The streets have a distinct cadence. It is a rhythm built on survival, punctuated by the sirens of the night, and underscored by the desperate heartbeat of a community crying out for change. Many hear this rhythm and walk away, intimidated by its raw intensity. Anthony Blackman heard it, absorbed it, and decided to rewrite the song entirely. As a faith-driven community leader, ordained minister, music professional, and outreach strategist, his life is a testament to the power of transformation.
With over twenty years of experience spanning public speaking, mentorship, music production, songwriting, and community engagement, Anthony operates at the gritty intersection of art and salvation. He understands that reaching the hardest corners of a city requires more than a traditional sermon; it requires a frequency that the streets can actually hear.
From Miami Streets to Memphis Miracles
Anthony’s journey is a tale of two deeply complex cities: Miami and Memphis. In Miami, Florida, he cut his teeth in the unforgiving world of business and community outreach. From July 2010 to January 2015, a span of four years and seven months, he operated as the Chief Executive Officer of Squeaky Cleaning Services, LLC, managing a rigorous commercial and residential cleaning company. But his true calling lay in the restoration of human lives.
In Miami, he served as an Executive Member of the Circle of Brotherhood, throwing himself into street outreach, gun violence prevention, intervention, conflict resolution, and retaliation interruption. His commitment was not merely theoretical. In 2019, he was a member of The Hunger 9, a nationally recognized twenty-one-day hunger strike against gun violence. He put his own body on the line to force a city to look at its bleeding youth.
Equipped with training from Miami Dade College and SAE Institute Miami, he launched Blackman Music Group, Inc. in January 2016. For ten years and ten months, he has served as the CEO of this mission-driven, culturally relevant media and content creation company.
Operating as a social enterprise, the company specializes in music and video production, content creation, and event production, all while providing workforce development and hands-on training in media arts to underserved communities, at-risk youth, and justice-involved individuals. “Where Purpose Meets Production,” is not just a tagline; it is his daily operational mandate.
A Kingdom Enterprise
As a Gospel Hip Hop artist performing as King Blackman, he has ministered and performed across the United States for over two decades, using his personal testimony to encourage transformation. But his impact reached a new crescendo when his work transitioned to Memphis, Tennessee.
Since May 2023, for the past three years and six months, Anthony has served full-time as the Community Director and Public Relations Manager at the Warrior Center Memphis. This Christ-centered residential recovery program has been restoring lives in the Mid-South for over twenty-five years. Operating across five locations with over 230 men and women currently in residence, the center offers comprehensive faith-based services to individuals overcoming addiction, homelessness, and life-controlling issues.
His mission at the Warrior Center is fiercely anchored in Isaiah 61:1, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. In his role, he helps lead community outreach, media engagement, workforce partnerships, and strategic expansion efforts. Under this visionary leadership, the center has recently acquired two additional facilities, moving boldly toward a vision to launch the first 200-bed recovery center for women and children in Memphis.
The Warrior’s Call
Anthony’s footprint in Memphis extends far beyond the walls of the recovery center. He is the Co-Founder of the Revive Memphis Initiative, a grassroots movement of prayer, fasting, and public repentance. This initiative has united pastors, community leaders, and government officials, leading three public fasts and prayer gatherings at the courthouse and across the city. Furthermore, as the Lead Facilitator for the Pray4TN Initiative in Shelby County, he coordinates prayer efforts in alignment with House Resolution 0051, calling Tennessee back to God through unified action.
He is also the Lead Organizer of Holy Ghost N Da Hood, using faith, collaboration, and music-based outreach to strengthen communities. His Kingdom work has not gone unnoticed by civic leaders. He has been honored with a Resolution from Shelby County Commissioner Charlie Caswell and a Proclamation from State Representative Justin J. Pearson, recognizing his profound impact on the city through prayer, recovery, and community transformation.
For Anthony, the work is never finished. “Every day is an opportunity to glorify Jesus Christ through service, love, and leadership,” he says. He remains a bridge between faith and community impact, equipping the next generation to rise from the concrete and find their purpose.
