A leadership development program for commercial, civic, and community leaders is about to begin in Mason County. According to a number of local business leaders, the program will resume after the break caused by COVID-19. Jeff Noblin, CEO of Pleasant Valley Hospital, Leigh Ann Shepard, First Vice President of City National Bank, and Larry Jones, Owner of Point Financial Services, are leading the development of the initiative.
Leadership Development Program
The program has been named ‘Leadership Mason County’. It is a professional development opportunity that will be created with the aim of finding and cultivating leaders in the Mason County region, exposing them to the issues and challenges that the community faces. The program will also educate them about the institutions that make up the community and give them a platform to get to know one another and network.
Each Leadership Mason County class will consist of a diverse group of professionals and volunteers who have achieved leadership positions in their fields or aspire to assume greater leadership responsibility. These individuals will learn how to make a positive impact on the community, develop and practice their leadership skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the current issues affecting the County. The Mason County Chamber of Commerce sponsors this endeavor every year.
Brains behind the Idea
The idea was created by Jeff Noblin and Leigh Ann Shepard based on prior leadership courses they had taken in the past. Leigh Ann Shepard stated, “I recently completed Leadership West Virginia and it really gave me an appreciation for all our state has to offer,”
Jeff Noblin, further said, “It’s amazing what you can learn about a community; its history, its culture, and its people with a program like this. This will definitely be a great resource for aspiring leaders in Mason County who want to make a measurable difference in the place we all live, work, and play.’
Anyone interested is welcome to join Leadership Mason County (business leaders, civic leaders, community volunteers, or aspiring leaders). Applications can be obtained at the Mason County Chamber of Commerce or through the Leadership Mason County website.
