Tim Tiscornia: Building Businesses From Food Waste to Clean Energy

Food that no one can eat goes into a self-contained vessel called an anaerobic digester. Energy and biofertilizer come out the other side, and nothing is wasted in the process. That is how Chomp describes its business, and for nearly four years one executive was responsible for making it grow.

Tim Tiscornia led Chomp as CEO from April 2022 to January 2026. Today, he is Executive, Energy Storage & Strategic Growth at Martin Energy Group, a Missouri-based company, in a full-time remote role that began in February 2026.

The Current Chapter

Martin Energy Group acquired Chomp, and Tim stayed to help shape what came next. He first led the integration of Chomp into the larger company, aligning teams and operations around Martin’s broader growth objectives.

Now he leads strategic growth and commercialization for the group’s battery energy storage systems business. He also contributes to corporate strategy and 2027 business planning. He describes his approach simply: “I build and scale technology businesses, turning innovative products into markets, revenue, and long-term business value.”

Chomp: A Circular Economy in Practice

At Chomp, based in Seattle, Tim led the commercialization and expansion of a circular economy business built around containerized, modular anaerobic digestion systems that bring food-waste processing closer to where the waste is generated.

His nearly four-year tenure as CEO spanned Chomp’s acquisition by Martin Energy Group in February 2025. He remained in the role after the acquisition, continuing until January 2026.

A Founder’s Side Project

Since October 2019, Tim has also been building HALF-LIFE in Seattle, an entrepreneurial venture in active lifestyle, community, and commerce. The platform brings together community, product discovery, content, and curated experiences.

Its focus areas include business development, product strategy, community growth, and digital commerce. The venture remains active alongside his executive work.

Silverdraft: Selling Speed

From 2015 to 2019, Tim was President of Silverdraft in Boise, Idaho, a company that delivers ultra-high-performance computing hardware, consulting, and software solutions. Its customers work in media and entertainment, automotive, AEC, and manufacturing.

He led the sales, marketing, and business development teams. He established the sales processes and marketing materials that increased hardware revenue from less than $50,000 to multimillion-dollar levels within 18 months.

Silverdraft’s customers included Toyota, Volkswagen, GE, Autodesk, NASA contractors, and leading entertainment studios. Other customers included Nissan, Legendary Entertainment, Corning, General Atomics, World Wrestling Entertainment, Omnicom Group, and Steelcase.

Working with the engineering team, Tim also helped define, package, pitch, and sell consulting services to Fortune 100 companies. He secured the first revenue from those services and grew it beyond $500,000 within 18 months, establishing a trajectory toward multimillion-dollar scale within 24 months.

During the same period, from September 2017 to April 2022, he served on the advisory board of Myxx Inc., an omnichannel marketing platform active at thousands of retail locations in the United States. Myxx gave shoppers access to a growing recipe database, from which they could add ingredients to a cart and buy online or use an in-store list. It was acquired by SmartCommerce in October 2022.

Cozi: From 3,000 Users to 17 Million

From 2007 to 2015, Tim was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Revenue Officer at Cozi in the Greater Seattle area. He spent eight years as an executive there.

During his tenure, he helped scale the family technology brand from approximately 3,000 users. Cozi subsequently reached its 17-millionth user in 2016, with its reach extending to 150 countries. It became a leading brand in family organization technology. He took part in fundraising rounds and board meetings, helped define strategic direction, and managed due diligence for the acquisition of Cozi by Time Inc.

Tim delivered over $14 million in revenue across three sources, building each from the ground up: revenue-bearing distribution agreements, online advertising across web and mobile, and a consumer subscription business. Cozi ranked among the top 10 grossing productivity apps in both Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

He negotiated and finalized distribution agreements with more than 20 Fortune 500 companies, including Dell, HP, Acer, Nestlé, Unilever, T-Mobile, US Cellular, LG, Sony, AOL, Meredith, ACCO Brands, and Gannett. He also led day-to-day sales, business development, marketing, and finance.

The Foundations

Before Cozi, Tim spent five years at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington, from 2002 to 2007. As Group Product Manager, he managed the team behind partner marketing and ecosystem launches for the Windows client operating system.

The scope included recruiting, budgeting, strategic planning, creative execution, and communication to global subsidiaries. He also led a cross-discipline team assessing the Microsoft small business software stack, and he led the launch and early deployments of the tablet form factor in education.

From 1999 to 2002, he was Vice President of Marketing at MainStreet Networks in the San Francisco Bay Area, responsible for channel strategy, product management, and marketing. Working with sales, his team secured 65 customer accounts representing more than 6 million access points. He managed 35 marketing and customer service professionals.

His earliest role was at Intel in Portland, Oregon, from 1997 to 1999, where he was Senior Financial Analyst for Intel Architecture Labs, analyzing emerging business opportunities for investment of internal resources or seed capital. He managed Fab 20’s $500 million capital ramp and received the CFO recognition award.

He holds an MBA from the University of Washington Foster School of Business and a BS in Accounting from Santa Clara University.

What Ties It Together

Tim brings more than 20 years of executive leadership. His experience runs from early-stage ventures through acquisition, and it includes startup founding, fundraising, board engagement, and hands-on operating experience in scaling organizations.

His core areas of focus include executive leadership, growth and P&L ownership, go-to-market strategy, partnerships, enterprise sales, product strategy, and fundraising and M&A. His sectors are climate tech, energy, high-performance computing, and digital commerce.

Across a circular-economy business, an energy-storage operation, and a family app, the common thread is commercialization: turning technology into products and services customers will adopt and pay for. At Chomp, that meant finding a market for decentralized food-waste recovery. At Martin Energy Group, it means applying that commercial discipline to energy storage and strategic growth.
